New York City County - The City Planning Commission of the City of New York, as lead agency, has determined that the proposed CEQR No. 01DCP002Y, ULURP No. N010064ZRY, application to amend the zoning regulations for signs will not have a significant adverse environmental impact. The action involves extending to all manufacturing districts the current size, illumination, projection and height provisions for signs in C8 General Service Districts, limiting in most commercial and all manufacturing districts, the size of accessory signs located in proximity to and within view of designated arterial highways and public parks; allowing greater flexibility under the existing special permit for General Large Scale Developments to modify rules for accessory signs; limiting the size of flashing signs that are permitted currently on waterfront blocks by the applicable district regulations; prohibiting flashing signs located on piers or platforms; authorizing the Commissioner of Buildings to promulgate rules concerning permissible levels of illumination; and prohibiting illuminated or indirectly illuminated signs from exceeding any degree of illumination so established. The project is located Citywide.
