The Department of Environmental Conservation has determined that the Registry of Inactive Hazardous Waste Disposal Sites in New York State needs to be amended to delete site number 546030, known as the Whitestone Motel Site. This site is located in the Town of Moreau, in the County of Saratoga, and is located at Route 9, 1/4 mile North of I-87. The reason for deletion is:
The Interim Remedial Measure (IRM) undertaken in 1999 removed the overlying asphalt and the contaminated soil and included the off-site disposal of PCB laden asphalt and soil. The contaminated asphalt and soil was removed to the recommended cleanup objective for PCB as specified in NYSDEC TAGM 4046 that provides soil cleanup guidelines for the protection of groundwater, background conditions, and health based exposure scenarios. Post-removal sampling was conducted to confirm that the soil cleanup objective had been obtained. Actual or threatened release of hazardous waste constituents from this site have been addressed by implementing the IRM, therefore the site no longer represents a current or potential significant threat to public health or the environment.
A Record of Decision (ROD) was signed in March, 2000, and called for no further action.
Written comments on this proposed deletion are welcome, and should be sent to:
