Notice of Public Scoping Session

Orange County - The Town of Tuxedo Town Board, as lead agency, has received a Draft Scoping Document from Sterling Forest LLC in the connection with the change of zoning on certain parcels it owns on the east and west sides of Orange County Route 84, south of its intersection with the Consolidated Edison Company power lines and north of the boundary of the Towns of Tuxedo and Warwick. A public scoping session will be held on August 7, 2000 at 7:30 p.m. at the Town Hall, Temple Drive and Hospital Road, Tuxedo, NY. Copies of the Draft Scoping Document may be obtained from the Town of Tuxedo Town Clerk. A copy is available for review at the Tuxedo Park Library. Comments on the Draft Scoping Document will be accepted until close of business August 17, 2000.

Negative Declaration

Dutchess County - The Dover Town Board, as lead agency, has determined that the proposed Local Law Adopting Greenway Connections will not have a significant adverse environmental impact. The action involves a Local Law to adopt the statement of land use policies, principles and guides entitled "Greenway Connections: Greenway Compact Program and Guides for Dutchess County Communities." The project is located in Dover, New York.

Dutchess County - The Town Board of the Town of Amenia, as lead agency, has determined that the proposed Adoption of a Local Law Establishing a Ridgeline Overlay Zoning District will not have a significant adverse environmental impact. The action involves the amendment of its Zoning Law to place restrictions on the siting of structures in visually sensitive ridgeline areas and to provide appropriate mitigation for the visual impact of development by promoting alternative development designs. The project is located in the Town of Amenia.

Dutchess County - The Town Board of the Town of Amenia, as lead agency, has determined that the proposed Adoption of a Local Law Amending the Subdivision Regulations will not have a significant adverse environmental impact. The action involves the replacing of Chapter 105 of the Town Code to provide for comprehensive regulations governing the applicability, submission requirements, standards for review and design, and due process for subdivision review and approval in the Town. The project is located in the Town of Amenia.

Positive Declaration

Sullivan County - The NYS Department of Environmental Conservation, as lead agency, has determined that the proposed Aldor Auto Wrecking & Parts Corp. Mine Expansion may have a significant adverse environmental impact and a draft EIS must be prepared. The action involves the expansion of a sand and gravel mine from 11.3 acres to 33.9 acres. Approximately 1,600,000 cubic yards of sand and gravel are proposed to be mined during an estimated period of 16 to 23 years. Processing equipment would continue to be used to screen and sort the materials. Existing haulage roads and the access road would also continue to be used. Proposed reclamation consists of the construction of a pond (lower mine area only), grading and vegetative stabilization of affected areas. The project is located to the north of NYS Route 17 (north of the hamlet of Bridgeville) and west of the Neversink River in the Town of Thompson, Sullivan County. Public Scoping will be announced at a later date.

Positive Declaration and Public Scoping Session

Dutchess County - The New York State Department of Environmental Conservation (DEC), as lead agency, has determined that the proposed Thalle Industries, Inc. Quarry Expansion, as revised, may have a significant adverse environmental impact and a Draft Environmental Impact Statement (DEIS) must be prepared. The revised expansion project involves the mining of approximately 15 million tons of rock from a total of 33 acres (an addition of 12.9 acres from the previous proposal). The proposed 33 acre expansion area is located on the east and south sides of the existing Thalle quarry located on the east side of US Route 9 approximately one and three quarters miles south of Interstate 84 in the Town of Fishkill, Dutchess County.

A public scoping session was held for the previously proposed 20.1 acre mine expansion. As an extension to that hearing, DEC will accept written comments on the modified Draft Scope of Issues prepared for the revised Thalle expansion plan until August 18, 2000. All written comments should be forwarded to William E. Steidle, Deputy Regional Permit Administrator, NYSDEC 21 South Putt Corners Road, New Paltz, N.Y. 12561. The Draft Scope of Issues is available for review at this location. A limited number of copies are also available for distribution upon request.

Notice of Acceptance of a Draft Supplemental EIS and Public Hearing

Dutchess County - The Town of East Fishkill Planning Board, as lead agency, has accepted a draft Supplemental Environmental Impact Statement on the proposed Unity Plaza Site Plan Amendment. A public hearing on the draft supplemental EIS will be held on August 15, 2000 at 7:30 p.m. at the Town of East Fishkill Town Hall, 330 route 376, Hopewell Junction, NY 12533. The action involves an 11.49 acre parcel for a commercial development with associated parking and drainage. The project is located on the north side of NY Route 82, opposite Unity Street and approximately 900 feet west of the intersection of NY Routes 82 and 376 in the hamlet of Hopewell Junction, East Fishkill, Dutchess County.
