Request for Proposal for Commercial Waste Collection and Recycling Services
Town of Babylon

This notice is issued pursuant to Subdivision 4 of Section 120-w of the General Municipal Law and is a notice of a Final Request for Proposals for the provision of collection means and services, and the facilities, having to do with the collection of municipal solid waste and recyclables from commercial, industrial, and institutional establishments within the unincorporated areas within the Town of Babylon, Suffolk County, New York. The means, services and facilities are expected to include: the routing; containers; vehicles; central yard and facilities; administrative, management, and maintenance support; and customer services support, to perform the services as specified in the Request for Proposals. Copies of the final Request for Proposals may be obtained at Babylon Town Hall, 200 East Sunrise Highway, Lindenhurst, New York 11757, between the hours of 9:00 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. except Saturdays, Sundays and Holidays on and after Tuesday, July 11, 2000 for a fee of $150.00. The fee is waived for those who have paid for the Draft Request for Proposal (DRFP). One Original and Ten (10) copies of the proposals are due no later than 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, August 8, 2000 at the office of James Nemley, Commissioner of General Services at the above address. A pre-proposal meeting, which is mandatory for all proposers, will be held on Tuesday, July 25, 2000 at 2:00 p.m. in the Auditorium at the Babylon Town Hall Annex, 281 Phelps Lane, North Babylon, New York 11703.


Notice of Revocation of Waste Transporter Permit 1A-617

The Department has determined that the record of noncompliance with the Environmental Conservation Law ("ECL") and the rules and regulations promulgated thereunder at 6 NYCRR, as enforced by the Department, constitutes grounds for revocation of the DEC Part 364 Waste Transporter Permit 1A-617 issued to Island Wide Recycling Industries, Inc., John McDonald, President, 10 Ashland Court, Holtsville, NY 11742. Waste transporter permit 1A-617 had authorized the transport of waste tires. The Department has accordingly revoked this permit effective June 30, 2000. The permittee is no longer licensed or permitted to handle such waste.

Negative Declaration

Suffolk County - The Town of Huntington Planning Board, as lead agency has determined that proposed Spagnoli II Corp./Carr Business Systems (Site Plan) will not have a significant adverse environmental impact. The action involves the construction of a 43,560 square foot industrial building containing 19,710 square feet of office space and 23,850 square feet of warehouse space with required off-street parking, loading and landscaped buffers located on a 3.00 acre (130,709 square foot) parcel within an I-2 Light Industry zone district. The project is located on the north side of Spagnoli Road, 2,044 feet west of Carlin Court in Melville, within the Town of Huntington.

Suffolk County - The Town of Huntington Planning Board, as lead agency has determined that the proposed EM PLAT will not have a significant adverse environmental impact. The action involves the subdivision of an approximately 0.34 acres subject property within the R-5 and R-7 residential zones. The property is surrounded by residentially zoned and developed properties and located within a National Register Historic District. The project is located at 54 West Neck Road, Huntington, New York.
