Public Meetings

The Environmental Justice Advisory Group, established by the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation, will be holding four public meetings throughout New York State to solicit comments on environmental justice issues affecting the people of the State of New York. The meeting schedule is as follows:

Negative Declaration

Chautauqua County - The State Education Department, as lead agency, has determined that the proposed Ripley Central School District, SED Project Nos. 06-24-01-04-0-001-008 and 06-24-01-04-5-009-001, will not have a significant adverse environmental impact. The action involves additions and alterations to the main building and construction of a new bus garage. The project is located at 12 North State Street and at Ross Street, Ripley, New York.

Erie County - The Buffalo Preservation Board, as lead agency has determined that the proposed Tosh Collins Community Center Construction/Rehabilitation, will not have a significant adverse environmental impact. The City of Buffalo proposes to construct a new 3,502 S.F., 1-story, brick addition at the southeast elevation of an existing community center; renovate the existing structure; reconfigure the existing surface parking lot; and add pre-cast parking bumpers. The project is located at 35 Cazenovia Parkway, Buffalo, New York.

Erie County - The New York State Department of Transportation, as lead agency has determined that the proposed reconstruction of the intersection of Millersport Highway with North Forest Road BIN 1071720, will not have a significant adverse environmental impact. The action proposes to improve the subject highway segments' capacity and accessability deficiencies by implementing a pavement widening alternative which will combine rehabilitation and replacement, pavement widening treatments with curbs, sidewalks and a closed drainage system. The Millersport Highway bridge over Ellicott Creek will also be widened to accommodate the widened highway section. The project is located 270 Campbell Blvd., Town of Amherst, New York.

Wyoming County - The Town Board of the Town of Sheldon, as lead agency, has determined that the proposed Solid Waste Law of the Town of Sheldon, will not have a significant adverse environmental impact. The action involves the proposed adoption of a local law that disallows the establishment of solid waste disposal facilities, including sanitary landfills and waste incinerators. The project is located throughout the Town of Sheldon, New York.

Positive Declaration and Notice of Acceptance of Draft EIS

Allegany County - The State Education Department, as lead agency has determined that the proposed Wellsville Central School District, SED Project No. 02-26-01-06-0-004-010, may have a significant adverse impact on the environment and a Draft Environmental Impact Statement has been prepared. Written comments on the Draft EIS will be accepted until June 14, 2000. The action involves additions and alterations to the High School Building. The project is located at 126 West State Street, Wellsville, New York.

Erie County - The State Education Department, as lead agency, has determined that the proposed land acquisition and additions/alterations to the Alden Primary School at town line in the Alden Central School District, SED Project No. 14-01-01-06-0-008-008, may have a significant environmental impact and a Draft Environmental Impact Statement has been prepared.. The action involves the purchase of 1.24 acres of land adjacent to existing property and 6,050 square feet of new additions. The project is located at 11197 Broadway in the Village of Alden.
