Negative Declaration

Nassau County - The Village of Williston Park, as lead agency has determined that the proposed construction of a new water treatment plant will not have a significant adverse environmental impact. The action involves the construction of packed tower aeration plant for removal of organic contaminants from Public Water Supply Well No. 2. The Well is owned and operated by the Village of Williston Park and the treatment facility is located on Village owned property. The project is located at Stratford Ave and Syracuse St, Williston Park, NY 11596.

Nassau County - The State Education Department, as lead agency has determined that the proposed New High School for the Miller Place Union Free School District will not have a significant adverse environmental impact. The action involves 258,000 sq. ft. of new construction on district property, control Number 58-02-08-02-0-017-001. The project is located at 15 Memorial Drive, Miller Place, New York 11764.

Suffolk County - The Suffolk County Department of Health, as lead agency, has determined that use of one or more of the following products for control of mosquito larvae will not have significant adverse impacts on the environment:

The Altosid products contain methoprene as their active ingredient. Vectobac is a biological agent using Bacillus thuringiensis v. israelensis. Vectolex is a biological agent using Bacillus sphaericus.

Results of prior studies were related to proposed use in Suffolk County. Possibility for and avoidance of impacts on non-target organisms were discussed for each formulation. Specific usage restrictions were identified to limit potential impacts from the proposed treatments. The full text of the determinations is available from the lead agency.

Suffolk County - The State Education Department, as lead agency, has determined that the proposed addition and alterations to the Islip Terrace Junior High School in the East Islip Union Free School District, SED Project No. 58-05-03-03-0-002-011, will not have a significant adverse environmental impact. The action involves an addition of 100,000 square feet. The project is located on Redmen Street in Islip Terrace, New York.

Suffolk County - The State Education Department, as lead agency, has determined that the proposed construction of a New High School for the Miller Place Union Free School District, SED Project No. 58-02-08-02-0-017-001, will not have a significant adverse environmental impact. The action involves 250,000 square feet of new construction on existing property. The project is located at 15 Memorial Drive in the Town of Brookhaven.

Nassau County - The Town of Hempstead, as lead agency has determined that the proposed Cousins Metals Industries proposed construction and demolition debris processing facility and solid waste transfer station may have a significant adverse impact on the environment and a Draft Environmental Impact Statement must be prepared. The action involves construction and operation of a construction and demolition debris processing facility and solid waste transfer station. It is proposed that the facility would process 350 tons per day of municipal solid waste, 300 tons per day of yard waste and 350 tons per day of construction and demolition debris and incinerator bypass waste. The project is located at 460 Brown Court, Oceanside, New York.

Suffolk County - The State Education Department, as lead agency, has required and accepted a Draft EIS on the proposed addition and alterations to the High School in the Miller Place Union Free School District, SED Project No. 58-02-08-02-0-006-011. Comments are requested on the Draft EIS and will be accepted by the contact person until May 10, 2000. The action involves 57,000 square feet of new additions on existing property. The project is located at 15 Memorial Drive in the Town of Brookhaven.

Notice of Acceptance of Draft EIS

Suffolk County - The State Education Department, as lead agency, has accepted a Draft EIS on the proposed additions and alterations to the Ross/Sonderling High School in the Brentwood Union Free School District, SED Project No. 58-05-12-03-0-002-005. Comments are requested on the Draft EIS and will be accepted by the contact person until May 12, 2000. The action involves 150,000 square feet of new additions on existing property. The project is located at 5th Avenue and First Street in Brentwood, New York.

Notice of Acceptance of Draft Supplemental EIS and Public Hearing

Suffolk County - The Town of Islip, as lead agency has accepted a Supplemental Draft Environmental Impact Statement on the Arlen Contracting Corporation Carleton Office Center. A public hearing on the Supplemental Draft EIS will be held on Thursday, May 4, 2000 at 7:30 p.m. at the Dept of Planning & Development, 655 Main Street, Islip, New York. Written comments on the Supplemental Draft EIS will be accepted until Monday, May 22, 2000. The action involves the renovation and reuse of a former medical/surgical building for office space, courtroom and ancillary court offices. The redevelopment will encompass the existing nine-story building and occupy the entire facility at approximately 145,000 square feet. Two buildings, a four-story and a two-story, will be demolished on the eastern portion of the site as a result of the proposed action. The project is located at the East Side Carleton Avenue (Rt.17), Central Islip, New York.

Notice of Acceptance of Final EIS

Suffolk County - The Huntington Planning Board, as lead agency has accepted a Final Environmental Impact Statement on the proposed Old Orchard Woods Resubdivision of Lot 1 Map of Hogan Plat]. The action involves the subdivision of a 24.21 acre property, zoned R-20 Residential (minimum lot size of 20,000 square feet) into twenty-two (22) modified lots for the subsequent construction/creation of new single-family homes, roadway; an approximate 62,000 square foot recharge basin and 5.7 acres of reserve area. The project is located on the northwest side of North Creek Road, 747.78 feet west of Eaton's Neck Road in Eatons Neck, designated as parcel 0400-001-01- 004.1 on the Suffolk County Tax Map.
