Notice of Acceptance of Draft EIS

Cayuga County - The Cayuga County Industrial Development Agency, as lead agency has accepted a Draft Environmental Impact Statement on the proposed Aurelius Industrial Park ChipFab Project. A public hearing on the draft EIS will be held on March 29, 2000 at 3:30 PM at the chambers of the Cayuga County Legislature on the 6th floor of the Cayuga County Office Building, 160 Genesee St., Auburn NY. If you have a disability and need an accommodation, please call the Cayuga County Legislature Office at 315-253-1308 at least 48 hours before the hearing you wish to attend. Written comments on the Draft EIS will be accepted until April 9, 2000. The action involves the examination of the potential impacts of constructing one, two and three chipfabs on its 200-acre parcel on NYS Rts. 5 and 20, west of the City of Auburn. Chipfabs manufacture semi-conductor materials for use in technological products. CCIDA has found that the development of two fabs is the preferred option since it will achieve the maximum benefit to the community with the minimum of negative impacts. Those impacts that will result are described in the DEIS. The project upon completion would employ about 5250 people and have an estimated value of $1.7 billion. The project is located on NYS Rts. 5 and 20, west of Auburn NY, in the Town of Aurelius.
