Project Description:
 The applicant proposes to install a submarine fiber optic telecommunications cable across the Atlantic Ocean from Long Beach to LePalus, France. The cable is proposed to enter the Atlantic Ocean at the terminus of Monroe Blvd. The cable will either be directionally bored or trenched into the beach and near-shore area.From the near shore installation the cable will be jet-plowed and sea-plowed out to the NYS 3 mile jurisdictional limit in the Atlantic Ocean. This project is part of an overall project that includes a similar cable that will enter the Long Island Sound from Northport, Suffolk County. This project's origination point is Monroe Blvd in the City of Long Beach, Nassau County.

The cable is proposed to enter the Long Island Sound at the terminus of the Waterside Rd. The cable will be directionally bored under the shore and near shore area out to 3280' off-shore. The directional bore process is intended to avoid impacts to the shoals and mudflats in the near shore area. From the directional bore terminus the cable will be jet-plowed and sea-plowed through the Long Island Sound to the Block Island Sound and ultimately the Atlantic Ocean. This project is part of an overall project that includes a similar cable that will enter the Atlantic Ocean at Long Beach, Nassau County. This project's origination point is Waterside Rd., Northport Village, Huntington Town, Suffolk County.
