Negative Declaration

Niagara County - The City of Niagara Falls, as lead agency has determined that the proposed Griffon Park Rehabilitation will not have a significant adverse environmental impact. The action involves the redevelopment of Griffon Park by expanding parking, construction of pedestrian pathways, amphitheater, picnic area, a comfort station, up to three fishing platforms, an observation deck, childrens play area, site grading, berming and landscaping. The project is located at 9355 Buffalo Avenue in the City of Niagara Falls.

Positive Declaration

Chautauqua County - The Village of Fredonia Board of Trustees, as lead agency has determined that the proposed Canadaway Creekside Village Feasibility Study may have a significant adverse impact on the environment and a draft Environmental Impact Statement must be prepared. The action involves a Feasibility Study that will recommend a development scenario for land along Canadaway Street in the Fredonia central business district. The street is currently residential with some commercial use; the land borders Canadaway Creek as it flows through the Village. Future development will entail demolition of up to 14 residential and commercial buildings to make way for new residential, retail and office uses. A park, play area and creekside trail will be created along the Creek to make this land accessible to the public. The project is located at 9-11 Church Street, Village of Fredonia.

Notice of Acceptance of Draft EIS

Allegany County - The State Education Department, as lead agency, has accepted a Draft EIS on the proposed acquisition of land and construction of a new Pre-K Building in the Bolivar-Richburg Central School District, SED Project No. 02-29-02-04-0-005-004. Comments are requested on the Draft EIS and will be accepted by the contact person until February 23, 2000. The action involves the site purchase of approximately 3 acres adjacent to existing property and approximately 8,400 square feet of new construction. The project is located on Main Street in the Village of Bolivar.

Allegany County - The State Education Department, as lead agency, has accepted a Draft EIS on the proposed acquisition of land and construction of a new Bus Garage in the Bolivar-Richburg Central School District, SED Project No. 02-29-02-04-5-016-001. Comments are requested on the Draft EIS and will be accepted by the contact person until February 23, 2000. The action involves the site purchase of approximately 2 acres adjacent to existing property and approximately 26,000 square feet of new construction. The project is located at 100 School Street in the Village of Bolivar.

Chautauqua County - The New York State Department of Environmental Conservation, as lead agency has accepted a draft Environmental Impact Statement on the proposed Frew Run Gravel Products, Inc. Mine Expansion. Written comments on the draft EIS will be accepted until March 3, 2000. The action involves the proposal to add 60 acres to the current 13.8 acre permitted Frew Run Sand and Gravel Mine. The proposal includes mining above and below the local ground water table on both the new area and part of the existing mine area, resulting in a 39 acre lake up to 50 feet deep. Mine faces are planned to be reclaimed by sloping, terracing and revegetating to grasses. The remainder of the site would be reclaimed to land suitable for farming. Material processing is currently by a wash plant that recycles process water. No changes in material processing, stockpiling and the haulageway, have been proposed. The existing mine is located north of Frew Run Road, Chautauqua County Route 80, opposite the Bain Road intersection. The expansion area is located east of the existing mine, between the current mine boundary and Peterson Road right-of-way. Comments are requested on the Draft EIS and will be accepted by the contact person until March 2, 2000. The action involves the construction of 5,000 square feet on existing property. The project is located at 3698 Washington Avenue in the Town of Scio.
