Project Description:
 Applicant proposes undertaking the West of Shinnecock Inlet Interim Plan for storm damage protection. This is a 6-year action to construct a beach fill and dune system along a 4,000-foot-long area of the Atlantic shoreline immediately west of the west jetty of Shinnecock Inlet. The project consists of one initial sand fill of approx. 810,400 cubic yards and two renourishments comprised of approx. 383,400 cubic yards each. Fill would be obtained from a nearby offshore borrow site. A federal draft Environmental Assessment (EA) has been prepared by the Army Corps pursuant to NEPA and is on file. The Corps is accepting comments on the Draft Decision Document and EA until January 31, 2000.
