Notice of Acceptance of DEIS and Notice of Public Hearing

Nassau County - The Town of Oyster Bay, as lead agency, has accepted a Draft EIS on the proposed "Mall at Oyster Bay" by Oyster Bay Associates, L.P. and WPIX, Inc. The project is a proposed 960,000 sq.ft. shopping center with four-level parking deck on a 38.98 acre site, located at the northeast corner of the intersection of the north service road of the Long Island Expressway (a/k/a Miller Place) and Robbins Lane, Syosset.

A public hearing on the project and DEIS will be held on January 27, 2000 at 7:00 p.m. at the Town Hall Hearing Room, Audrey Avenue, Oyster Bay, NY 11771. The comment period will end on February 16, 2000.

Suffolk County - The Smithtown Town Board, as lead agency, has accepted a Draft EIS on change of zone petition #96-3 for the proposed "Landing Avenue at Smithtown" project by the Landing Avenue Development Corporation. The proposed zone change would be from CB to RM-GA, to enable construction of four, two-story buildings to contain 50 garden apartments plus miscellaneous facilities on a vacant 2.88 acre parcel of land located southeast of Landing Avenue and north of Main Street in Smithtown.

A public hearing on the project and DEIS will be held on January 20, 2000 at 8:00 p.m. at the Smithtown Senior Citizens Center, Middle Country Road, Smithtown, NY. The comment period will end on February 04, 2000.

Notice of Positive Declaration with Public Scoping Session

Nassau County - The Town of Oyster Bay, as lead agency, has determined that the three Vim Construction applications may have a significant adverse impact, and that a Draft EIS must be prepared. The proposed actions include demolition of an existing asphalt plant and construction of a modern one on 2.27 acres; change of zone from "H" to "S-2" (Golden Age), for construction of 196 units of senior citizen housing on 10.98 acres; and construction of a 62, 515 sq.ft. assisted living facility on a 4.23 acre portion of the Twin County Recycling Plant site. The project is located at Engel Street and West John Street, Hicksville, NY.

A public scoping session will be held on January 5, 2000 at 7 p.m. in the Oyster Bay Town Hall, Audrey Avenue, Oyster Bay, NY.
