Negative Declarations

Chenango County - The New York State Department of Environmental Conservation as lead agency has determined that the proposed adoption of the Northern Chenango Highlands Unit Management Plan will not have a significant adverse environmental impact. The action involves setting forth the proposed goals, objectives, management actions and associated costs for a 13,686 acre unit of State Forest land in northwestern Chenango County. The plan will detail all proposed management activities for a 20 year period, dating from the time of approval and adoption. A review and update of the plan will take place at the end of the tenth year.

General management activities planned for the unit include: boundary line surveys and maintenance, forest inventory, wood products harvesting and stand improvement cuts, site preparation and reforestation, maintenance of grass and brush land, law enforcement and fire detection and suppression programs, construction of parking areas and access roads and installation of motor vehicle barriers, maintenance of public forest access roads, parking areas and borrow pits, acquisition through fee simple title or easement connecting properties or inholdings to enhance public access, development of a public use brochure and including this unit in the development of the Genny Green Trail system. The Genny Green Trail System is a proposed project in he Open Space Conservation Plan for the development of a multi-use trail system in parts of Chenango, Cortland, Onondaga and Madison Counties. Specific trail locations or uses have not yet been determined.

Madison County - The State Education Department, as lead agency, has determined that proposed construction of a new bus garage in the Madison Central School District, SED Project No. 25-11-01-04-5-008-001, will not have a significant adverse environmental impact.
