Public Notice

Public Comment Period for the Upper Hudson Woodlands ATP, Hyslop Tract Conservation Easement Draft Recreation Management Plan.

The New York State Department of Environmental Conservation (NYS DEC) is seeking public input to the Upper Hudson Woodlands ATP, Hyslop Tract Conservation Easement Draft Recreation Management Plan. The Draft Recreation Management Plan outlines the property’s current condition and the rights which New York State has purchased, most notably a Linear Recreation Corridor for a multi-use trail connecting the towns of Newcomb and Minerva. The draft plan can be viewed at: https://www.dec.ny.gov/lands/116082.html. Public comments will be accepted for 30 days, from February 27, 2019 and ending March 29, 2019. The project is located in the Town of Newcomb, Essex County, New York.

Final Brown Tract Pond Campground Unit Management Plan

The Final Unit Management Plan (UMP) will guide management of the Brown Tract Pond Campground for the next 5 years. The New York State Department of Environmental Conservations (NYS DEC) has considered all public comments as it finalized the management plan for the campground. The campground is located two miles northwest of the Village of Raquette Lake, on Browns Tract Road, Town of Arietta, Hamilton County, New York.

Eagle Point Campground Unit Management Plan

The Unit Management Plan (UMP) will guide management of the Eagle Point Campground for the next 5 years. The New York State Department of Environmental Conservations (NYS DEC) considered all public comments as it finalized the management plan for the campground. The campground is located two miles north of Pottersville on US Highway 9 in the Town of Chester, Warren County, New York.

Tree Removal for Facility Upgrades at the Olympic Sports Center at Mount Van Hoevenberg

The action involves a Work Plan that includes providing American with Disabilities Act (ADA) compliant vehicle and pedestrian access to the Mount Van Hoevenberg facilities, providing safe traffic patterns for all visitors, and for overall implementation of the 2018 Unit Management Plan Amendment after a thorough engineering review and for which the cutting of 3,528 trees will be necessary. Specific projects include: widening and building new Nordic trails and biathlon stadium as well as road modifications and parking lot expansion to improve traffic flow. Tree cutting will be in compliance with Lands and Forests Policy # 91-2 on Cutting, Removal or Destruction of Trees and Other Vegetation on Forest Preserve Lands. The project is located in the Town of North Elba, Essex County, New York.

Negative Declaration

Clinton County - The Clinton County Highway Department, as lead agency, has determined that the proposed Kent Falls Road Bridge (BIN 3335790) over Saranac River will not have a significant adverse environmental impact. The action involves the removal of the deteriorated and closed Kent Falls Road bridge over the Saranac River. The project is located on Kent Falls Road in the Towns of Plattsburgh and Schuyler Falls, New York.
