Negative Declaration

Warren County - The Lake George Park Commission, as lead agency, has determined that the proposed Construction of Lake George Park Commission Office Facility and Visitors Interpretive Center will not have a significant adverse environmental impact.

This project is to construct a new Lake George Park Commission (LGPC) office building on the site of its current facility, replacing the existing building which does not meet the current and anticipated future needs of the Commission. Incorporated into this building will be a new Lake George Battlefield Park Visitors Interpretive Center, which will utilize the entire walk-out basement for this purpose. The proposed Visitor's Center provides an outstanding opportunity to highlight the tremendous history of the area, and provides a great outlet for historical tourism that the State of New York actively promotes. The current building and the property on which it sits is owned by New York State Department of Environmental Conservation (NYS DEC), and the LGPC operates out of this building under a Memorandum of Understanding between the two agencies. The new building will be owned by NYS DEC and operated by LGPC under a modified Memorandum of Understanding and funded through the New York State Environmental Protection Fund. The building has required an amendment to the Lake George Beach and Battlefield Park Unit Management Plan.

The project is located Fort George Road in Lake George, New York.

Contact: Dave Wick, LGPC, 75 Fort George Road, PO Box 746, Lake George, NY 12845; Phone: (518)668-9347, Fax: (518)668-5001, E-mail: dave@lgpc.state.ny.us

The project will consist of ground-mounted, solar photovoltaic panels in either a fixed tilt or single-axis tracking configuration. The construction of the system will involve driving posts approximately 4 to 6 foot into the ground every 12 to 16 foot and mounting panel racks to the posts.

The project is located on Aviator Way, off County Line Road in the Town of Kingsbury, New York.
