Negative Declaration

Chenango County - The New York State Department of Environmental Conservation (NYS DEC), as lead agency, has determined that the proposed Chenango RA #18, Stand C-2.1, Site Preparation to Establish Regeneration will not have a significant adverse environmental impact.

This project involves herbicide application on 86 acres to reduce the abundance of beech, Striped maple, hophornbeam, New York fern, Hay-scented fern, Japanese knotweed and Pale swallow-wort to establish conditions favorable for the establishment of desirable (commercial) timber species which include Norway spruce, White ash and Black cherry. The abundance of these undesirable and invasive species are preventing the seed germination and establishment of desired forest regeneration. Herbicide application is the most effective method to reduce the abundance of these plants that interfere with the establishment of desirable forest regeneration.

The project is located at Lincklaen State Forest, on the east side of Hyer Road in the Towns of Lincklaen and Pitcher, New York.
