Project Description:

The Town of Greece is proposing the construction of an earthern berm to protect existing homes and Edgemere Drive during periods of high water. The berm would be approximately 420 feet in length and 2 and 1/2 feet high, with a top elevation of 250 feet. Construction of the berm would include underdrains and catch basins that would facilitate draining and the pumping of water, including two pipes that would discharge to Round Pond. Approximately 500 cubic yards of fill would be used to construct the berm which would be located within the regulated adjacent area of NYS Freshwater Wetland GR-22.

The applicant is proposing to dredge approximately 333 cubic yards of accumulated sediment from approximately 3,300 linear feet of Lake Ontario tributary that runs through Durand Eastman Golf Course. The current buildup of sediment is contributing to an increase in golf course flooding. Sediment removed will be placed in a designated area within the park.

The project will cause a total area of disturbance of approximately 0.16 acres within the regulated adjacent area of NYS wetland GN-7, in the area approximately north of 368 Route 318. This is a section of a larger associated similar watermain installation which crosses the adjacent towns of Waterloo and Phelps.
