The applicant proposes marsh restoration activities at an 80-acre site located on the west side of Smith Point County Park which includes improving the existing marsh ditch features by strategically filling them with local material and coir logs and creating naturalized tidal channels to improve tidal exchange between the bay and the marsh interior. The project also involves the creation of micropools connected to tidal channels to enhance natural conditions and to control marsh mosquito species. The project is located at Smith Point County Park, William Floyd Parkway, Smith Point, Town of Brookhaven, Suffolk County, SCTM#s 0200-985.1-1-1 and 0200-984.4-2-75, on Bellport Bay and Narrow Bay.

State Environmental Quality Review (SEQR) Determination:

State Historic Preservation Act (SHPA) Determination:

Evaluation using a Structural-Archaeological Assessment Form or other information has concluded that the proposed activity will not impact registered, eligible or inventoried archaeological sites or historic structures.

Coastal Management:

This project is located in a Coastal Management area and is subject to the Waterfront Revitalization and Coastal Resources Act.

Opportunity for Public Comment:
