Essex County -- The New York State Department of Environmental Conservation (NYS DEC), as lead agency, has determined that the proposed Frontier Town - Upper Hudson Recreation Hub - Frontier Town Campground, Equestrian and Day Use Area will not have a significant adverse environmental impact.

The proposed action is the construction and operation of a State Campground, Equestrian Campground and two (2) Day Use Areas (the "Frontier Town Campground, Equestrian and Day Use Area" or alternatively "State Campground and Equestrian Center") on a 91 acre portion of the former Frontier Town Theme Park site and adjacent area. This is part of a larger project area consisting of approximately 343.41 total acres of land currently under a combination of municipal and private ownership. Portions of the remaining 252.41 acres are to be developed in partnership with the State to create a recreational and hospitality experience consistent with the Upper Hudson Recreation Hub Master Plan that enhances economic activity. This will highlight the natural offerings of the region and serve as a launching off point for exploration of the Adirondack Park as well as preserve and enhance the site's natural beauty. It will also include recreational and commercial facilities that will complement the Frontier Town Campground, Equestrian and Day Use Area. In addition, Essex County and the Town of North Hudson intend to operate an existing parking area.

The project is located off Frontier Town Road, (off NYS Route 9 near I-87 exit 29) in the Town of North Hudson, New York.
