SHPA: Cultural resource lists and maps have been checked. No registered, eligible or inventoried archaeological sites or historic structures were identified at the project location. No further review in accordance with SHPA is required.

Project Location: Smithtown

Project Description: The department has made a tentative determination to issue a SPDES permit for the discharge of 15,000 gallons per day of treated sanitary waste to the groundwater located at n/w/c of Route 347 & Route 111,Smithtown, New York. The proposed discharge is located within an area designated as a sole source aquifer. The following public water purveyors have been identified as having service areas located within a three mile radius of the applicant's facility: 1) Suffolk County Water Authority. SPDES NY-0287148


Negative Declaration

Suffolk County - The New York State Department of Environmental Conservation (NYS DEC), as lead agency, has determined that the proposed Suffolk County Water Authority - Circle Drive Well will not have a significant adverse environmental impact.

The action involves a proposal by the Applicant to increase the capacity of an existing well from 1,300 gallons per minute to 2,000 gallons per minute. The well is constructed 600' below grade and withdraws groundwater. The well is connected to the existing water distribution system. The purpose of the project is to increase water supply. The project is located Circle Drive Well Field, Wyandanch, Town of Babylon, Suffolk County, NY.
