Negative Declaration

Erie County - The Erie County Water Authority, as lead agency, has determined that the proposed Erie County Water Authority Ball Pump Station, New Electric Substation will not have a significant adverse environmental impact.

The project involves the expansion of the Ball Pump Station, a major component of the Erie County Water Authority (ECWA) transmission system. The Ball Pump Station has five pumps ranging in size from 700 hp to 1500 hp and has space available for further expansion. The Ball Pump Station supplies the entire northern portion of the ECWA system.Electrical power is supplied at 115 kV to an ECWA owned electrical substation which includes two 115 kV to 4160 volt transformers. The substation is experiencing structural foundation problems and replacement is necessary. The project consists of a new substation of the same capacity on an adjoining location on the Ball Pump Station site. The existing substation will be demolished.

The project is located 1201 Sweet Home Road in the Town of Amherst, New York.
