Project Description:

Applicant proposes to construct a vegetated berm topped with a walking trail to replace a former trail that was washed out in a storm event. The berm will be constructed by rearranging stone that was displaced from the former trail, covering the stone with sand and planting the slopes of the berm with native, salt-tolerant plantings. Snow fence is proposed to stabilize the berm. The berm is proposed within a Coastal Erosion Hazard Area (CEHA) and the tidal wetlands adjacent area. The purpose of the project is to reestablish pedestrian access to Lloyd Point. The project is located within Caumsett State Park, 25 Lloyd Harbor Road, Lloyd Harbor, Town of Huntington, Suffolk County, SCTM# 403-2-1-1.1.

State Environmental Quality Review (SEQR) Determination:

Project is not subject to SEQR because it is a Type II action.

State Historic Preservation Act (SHPA) Determination:

Evaluation using a Structural-Archaeological Assessment Form or other information has concluded that the proposed activity will not impact registered, eligible or inventoried archaeological sites or historic structures.

Coastal Management:

This project is located in a Coastal Management area and is subject to the Waterfront Revitalization and Coastal Resources Act.

Opportunity for Public Comment:

Comments on this project must be submitted in writing to the Contact Person no later than Jan 12, 2018.
