Project Description:

Applicant proposes to install new pier protection systems around the deep water piers of Outerbridge Crossing which connects Staten Island, NY to the City of Perth Amboy, NJ, due to the piers being vulnerable to vessel impact. The pier protection system will consist of pile-supported fender protection systems around the three mid-river main span piers, two of which are located in New York State waters. The fender system will be comprised of 36-inch diameter hollow steel piles, connected by composite walers, and wide floating walkways between the piers and fender system that are supported by 18-inch diameter steel piles.
