Project Description:

The applicant proposes to clear 1.17 acres to construct a new wellfield consisting of two new public water supply wells with associated equipment, and to construct a 5-space parking area. The wells will extend to a depth of 200 feet below grade, each with a pump capacity of 650 gallons per minute, and will be connected to the existing water distribution system. The applicant has an easement to install the wellfield on this parcel owned by Suffolk County and known as Noyac Hills County Park.

This activity is located within 535 feet of a breeding pond for the endangered eastern tiger salamander (Ambystoma tigrinum), and the project requires an Endangered Species Incidental Take permit. A mitigation plan for the loss of upland habitat was developed and mitigation measures include establishing a 390 sq. ft. restoration area with an additional breeding pond constructed within the 1,000 foot radius of the original breeding pond.

The project is located on the east side of Deerfield Rd at the intersection of Deerwood Path, Noyac, Southampton Town, SCTM# 900-22-1-52.1
