Negative Declaration

Cayuga County - The New York State Department of Environmental Conservation (NYS DEC), as lead agency, has determined that the proposed Robinson Concrete Inc Renewal and Modification for Mined Land Reclamation Permit Application will not have a significant adverse environmental impact. The action involves a proposal by the applicant to renew and increase an existing sand and gravel life-of-mine (LOM) by 12.1 acres. With reconfigurations and some areas approved as reclaimed the LOM is being reduced from 38.7 to 31.7 within a 230 acre parcel. The project site is leased to Robinson Concrete from John Potter. Mining is not proposed for below the local water table. Excavation will be done by mechanical equipment, standard for sand and gravel mining operations. Mining is proposed to remove approximately 1 million cubic yards of aggregate sand and gravel over the estimated operational life of the mine. Mine areas will be reclaimed for production of field crops and/or naturally wooded conditions. The area reviewed in this application is 12.1 acres. The project is located on the north side of Miller road about .7 miles from Route 5 in the Town Sennett, New York.
