Project Description:

The Department has made a tentative determination to issue a renewed, transferred, and modified SPDES permit for the Darien Lakes Theme Park and Camping Resort to EPR Parks, LLC for an existing discharge of 0.25 million gallons per day of treated sanitary waste from the on-site wastewater treatment plant and holding lagoon to groundwater via spray irrigation. The draft permit includes several updates, a compliance schedule with requirements for an engineering report, system upgrades, and downgradient monitoring wells, and monitoring and limits for the two new outfalls. The spray fields are located across the street from the park. As a tentative determination, the Department seeks comments prior to making a final decision.

Project Description:

The applicant is proposing maintenance dredging of the marina area. An area measuring approximately 320 feet x 350 feet will be dredged to improve navigation and continued use of the marina during low water levels. Proposed water depths will be approximately 238.8 feet (IGLD'85) in the immediate vicinity of the docks and ramp and shallower near shore. Dredge material will be placed at the US Army Corps of Engineers open lake management site or upland in accordance with applicable state regulations. Additionally, an area formerly used as a boat lift will be converted to a concrete boat ramp and an additional concrete ramp added.
