The proposed discharge is located within an area designated as a sole source aquifer. The following water purveyors have been identified as having service areas located within a 3 mile radius of this facility: Suffolk County water Authority, Dix Hills Water District, Brentwood Water District.

Project Description:

Applicant proposes to reduce the amount of Phragmites australis to less than 1% of its current coverage through treatment with Roundup (50.2% glyphosate) followed with the removal of dead stems by prescribed fire or mechanical treatment. A native wetland seed mix will be applied if native species do not make up more than 50% of the plant composition in the spring following project completion. The purpose of the project is to restore open water habitat and the native wetland plant community. The project is located in Linus Pond, Otis Pike Preserve, Town of Riverhead, Suffolk County, SCTM# 600-135-1-3.

Project Description:

The applicant is applying for NYSDEC permits to operate an existing Pathological Animal Waste Crematory in Building 101. This facility is designed to process animal carcasses and associated waste (such as bedding) produce only at this facility in two Pathological Waste Crematories, each at an approved design capacity of 1200 lbs/hr, for a total design capacity of 2400 lbs/hour. A portion of the material incinerated can be classified by NYSDEC as Part 360 regulated medical waste. Regulated medical waste can be processed in each crematory at a rate of no more than 60 lbs/hr, for a total facility rate of 120 lbs/hr. Ash is further decontaminated using the exit autoclaves in Building 101 and then be transported to a designated authorized landfill outside of Long Island.
