Tree Removal for Bear Den Lodge Construction on Whiteface Mountain Intensive Use Area

The action involves the removal of 111 trees along with their stumps to facilitate construction of the Bear Den Lodge at Whiteface Mountain. This construction project is included in the approved 2006 Unit Management Plan for the Whiteface Mountain Ski Center. Tree cutting will be in compliance with LF Policy # 91-2 on Cutting, Removal or Destruction of Trees and Other Vegetation on Forest Preserve Lands. The project is located on the Whiteface Mountain Intensive Use Area in the Town of Wilmington, Essex County New York.

Tree Removal for Trail Construction on the Wilmington Reservoir to Flume Connector Trail

The objective of this project is to remove nine trees and their stumps for the construction of a one-mile trail. The construction of this trail was adopted in the 2016 Amendment to the Wilmington Wild Forest Unit Management Plan. Tree cutting will be in compliance with LF Policy # 91-2 on Cutting, Removal or Destruction of Trees and Other Vegetation on Forest Preserve Lands. The project is located in the Wilmington Wild Forest in the Town of Wilmington, Essex County, New York.

Tree Removal for Construction of a Foot and Ski Trail Corridor on John Pond Clear Pond Loop

The action involves the removal of 208, primarily small trees within the trail corridor, particularly those on slopes or curves that present a hazard to a skier. This trail construction project is included in the approved 2017 Unit Management Plan Amendment for the Siamese Ponds Wilderness. Tree cutting will be in compliance with LF Policy #91-2 on Cutting, Removal or Destruction of Trees and Other Vegetation on Forest Preserve Lands. The project is located in the Towns of Indian Lake and Johnsburg, Hamilton and Warren Counties, New York.
