Project Description: The action involves the removal of a cabin on the top of Thomas Mountain. DEC purchased the 1,900 acre Cat and Thomas land from the Lake George Land Conservancy in the Town of Bolton in 2013, and added it to the forever wild forest preserve. It has become a public nuisance and public health threat. The cabin is also considered non-conforming under the Adirondack Park State Land Master Plan. The Lake George Land Conservancy supported DEC's decision to remove the cabin. DEC will be removing the cabin as soon as possible.

The new structure will be approximately 1 ft taller than the existing structure and 9.5± ft closer to the mean high water mark of Lake Champlain. Project Description: The variance request involves an expansion of the existing municipal water treatment building which is presently located approximately 17.5 ft. from the mean high water mark of Lake Champlain. The proposed water treatment building expansion is part of the Town's municipal water system improvements. The existing building is 432 sq. ft. in size and 9 ft. in height. The expanded building will be 783 sq. ft. in size and 13 ft. in height, including a new chemical storage room, process area, bathroom and rooftop deck railing.

Project Description: The proposed action is to apply glyphosate based herbicide to invasive reed grass (Phragmites australis) on approximately seven acres in accordance with best management practices identified in the "Inter-Agency Guidelines for Implementing Best Management Practices to Control Invasive Species on DEC Administered Lands of the Adirondack Park." Phragmites is a perennial grass that thrives in wetland areas and can grow up to 15 feet in height. It is capable of vigorous vegetative reproduction often forming dense stands that exclude other wetland vegetation and alters community structure. Application will be either by foliar spray, which will be used to treat the majority of plants, or by stem injection. Herbicide treatment is effective in suppressing, or locally eradicating small to medium sized infestations of common reed.

Project Description: The proposed action is to apply glyphosate and/or imazapyr based herbicide to Knotweed (Reynoutria spp.) on approximately .15 acres in accordance with best management practices identified in the "Inter-Agency Guidelines for Implementing Best Management Practices to Control Invasive Species on DEC Administered Lands of the Adirondack Park." Knotweed is a herbaceous perennial which forms dense clumps 3-10 feet in height. It spreads rapidly forming dense thickets that can alter natural ecosystems. Application will be either by foliar spray or by stem injection. Herbicide treatment is effective in suppressing, or locally eradicating early detection to medium sized infestation of Knotweed species.
