Project Description:

The Department has received and made a tentative determination to approve an application for the removal of approximately 1,000 cubic yards of petroleum impacted sediments in the Allegheny River south of South 7th Street in the City of Olean. Access to the project site will require the construction of a temporary access road over the Olean Flood Protection Project levee. An application for a Flood Control Land Use Permit has been submitted to the Department and is under review. The sediment will be dredged using an excavator positioned on a temporary causeway constructed with stone placed directly on the bottom of the river. Once dredging is completed, the temporary causeway material will be reused to backfill and restore riverbed elevations and to stabilize the river bank. All dredged materials will be disposed of at a Department approved facility. As a tentative determination, the Department is seeking public comments prior to making a final determination on permit issuance.

Project Description:

This project is to provide compensatory replacement to stream habitats impacted for the construction of the Arkwright Summit Wind Farm project and associated project infrastructure located in the Towns of Arkwright and Pomfret in Chautauqua County. The project will provide erosion and headcutting protection and enhance fish habitat on an approximately 3,450 linear feet segment of Canadaway Creek along State Route 60 at the above facility in the Town of Pomfret. Project components include 5 engineered rock riffles to provide protection from headcutting of the stream; approximately 900 linear feet total of heavy rock riprap toe and bank protection, including bendway weirs and willow poles along 3 stretches of varying lengths; vegetated riparian buffers using native plants at varying widths from approximately 30 feet to 50 feet wide; and a stabilized cattle crossing.

Project Description:

The Department has received and made a tentative determination to approve an application for a new State Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (SPDES) permit for the Village of Brocton Water Filtration Plant. The applicant is proposing to continue an existing discharge of up to 300,000 gallons per day of filter backwash water and settling basin wash water to Slippery Rock Creek, a Class C waterbody from two settling ponds where solids are allowed to settle out prior to discharge. As a tentative determination, the Department is seeking public comment prior to making a final decision on permit issuance.
