Project Description:

The Department has received and made a tentative determination to approve an application for the Point Peter Brook Dam reconstruction which will include installation of a 9 ft x 14 ft precast concrete box culvert to replace the existing 6 ft. corrugated metal pipe. The box culvert is designed to pass a 100-year flood event. Improvements to the forebay, reservoir and spillway outlet are also proposed. The project is located at 27 East Main Street in the Village of Gowanda. As a tentative determination, the Department is seeking comments on the proposed regulated activity prior to making a final decision on permit issuance. As such, this tentative determination does not signify Department approval for or endorsement of an activity for which a permit is sought.

No further review in accordance with SHPA is required.

Coastal Management:

This project is not located in a Coastal Management area and is not subject to the Waterfront Revitalization and Coastal Resources Act.

Project Description:

The applicant proposes to replace the existing metal sheet piling bank protection wall with large rock riprap on approximately 150 linear feet of streambank along Mud Creek. Use of a turbidity curtain at the work site will prevent increased siltation of surrounding waters. Live willow will be planted along the top of the bank. Material excavated from bank grading will be used as needed for willow planting, with excess material placed at an upland location and stabilized.

Project Description:

The applicant proposes to abandon municipal water well #2 due to inefficiency and replace with new municipal water well #13 within the Cassadaga Well Field. Both wells are within regulated adjacent areas of NYS Freshwater Wetland ID No. GE-13 and GE-14 respectfully, Class 1 Wetlands. The well abandonment will include removal of the existing well house structure and pump components, plugging of well, and restoration of the site with natural vegetation. Activities associated with the new well include clearing of vegetation in a 40 by 40 foot area for the new well, an 18 by 10 foot well house to be constructed around the new well and elevated above the flood plain, and an approximately 8 feet wide cleared area adjacent to the existing access road to provide for parking. The project also includes planting of trees and placement of bat houses for mitigation of impacts associated with construction of the new well. A Water Withdrawal Permit application will be prepared once the well is drilled and appropriate data is available.

The Department has made a tentative determination to approve an application for the excavation of approximately 4900 cubic yards of material from the main pond and the rearing pool area of Eaton pond The project will also include a 420 foot rock riprap and vegetative plantings. Dredged material will be placed along the pond banks. The project is located at Springville Field and Stream club in the Town of Concord. As a tentative determination, the Department is seeking comments on the proposed regulated activity prior to making a final decision on permit issuance.
