Project Description:

The applicant proposes to de-water its Rauh Aggregate Mine to allow for the extraction of sand and gravel material. The water will be transferred between ponds in a closed loop system using pumps which have the capacity to withdraw up to 9,600,000 gallons per day. The facility is located on the northside of Cassadaga Road and approximately 3900 feet east of the intersection with Barnum Road.

State Environmental Quality Review (SEQR) Determination:

State Historic Preservation Act (SHPA) Determination:

The proposed activity is not subject to review in accordance with SHPA. The application type is exempt and/or the project involves the continuation of an existing operational activity.

Coastal Management:

This project is not located in a Coastal Management area and is not subject to the Waterfront Revitalization and Coastal Resources Act.

Opportunity for Public Comment:

Project Description:

The NYS Department of Environmental Conservation (DEC) is proposing a Department Initiated Modification to the State Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (SPDES) Permit NY0001635, pursuant to 6 NYCRR Part 750-1.18.

The Olin Corporation Chlor-Alkali Products facility produces chlorine, caustic soda, hydrochloric acid and sodium hypochlorite. Hydrogen and sulfuric acid are also produced as by-products. Treatment at the facility consists of fixed bed activated and carbon absorption.

DEC proposed to incorporate the following modifications to this permit: Temperature Daily Maximum has been lowered from 95°F to 90°F. Biological Monitoring Requirements as well as a Schedule of Submittals have been added. The permit includes updated forms and the latest general conditions.
