Negative Declaration

Fulton County - The Village of Mayfield, as lead agency, has determined that the proposed Water Storage Tank Replacement will not have a significant adverse environmental impact. The action involves the construction of a new 200,000 gallon water storage tank in the Village of Mayfield. The Village of Mayfield currently utilizes a ninety (90) year old 150,000-gallon welded steel elevated water storage tank for the storage of finished water. The tank is located on a Village owned parcel off of North Main Street near Mayfield High School. The surrounding area is residential to the west and forested to the east. A Tank Condition Assessment in 2014 revealed numerous health, safety, and structural concerns associated with the existing tank. The Village proposes the construction of a new water storage tank. The existing tank site is small in area with steep topography and challenging access, limiting its suitability for reuse for the new tank. A new site is proposed for the replacement tank. This site is to be subdivided from a parcel owned by the Town of Mayfield located approximately 1,600 feet north of the existing tank. This site is currently used for Town garages and the Mayfield courthouse. The developed portion of the site occupies less than half of the parcel. The undeveloped portions of the parcel contain gravel, lawn, or trees. The proposed project includes clearing and grading, construction of the new single pedestal elevated water storage tank, installation of an access road, extension of an 8 inch water main from State Highway 30 to the new tank, installation of a hydrant and valves, demolition of the existing tank, and site restoration. The project is located at 75 North Main Street in the Village of Mayfield, New York.

The project is located at various locations in Washington County, New York.
