Fact Sheet

The New York State Department of Environmental Conservation (NYS DEC) has received a Brownfield Cleanup Program (BCP) application and Draft Remedial Investigation Work Plan from 441 Eastern Parkway, LLC for a site known as the BH Aircraft Site, site ID #C152247. This site is located in the Hamlet of East Farmingdale, within the County of Suffolk, and is located at 441 Eastern Parkway. Comments regarding this application must be submitted no later than July 7, 2017. A copy of the application, Draft Remedial Investigation Work Plan and other relevant documents are available at the document repository located at the Farmingdale Public Library, 116 Merritts Road, Farmingdale, 11735. Negative Declaration

Suffolk County - The Town of Islip, as lead agency, has determined that the proposed Gull Haven Commons, LLC will not have a significant adverse environmental impact. The action involves a change of zone from Planned Development District - Educational Campus (PDD-EC) to Planned Development District - Multi Family (PDD-MF). The project is for the renovation of fourteen buildings totaling approximately 159,000 square foot (known as the Sunburst Buildings and Bauhaus Buildings) and the construction of six new buildings totaling approximately 186,500 square foot. A total of 268 rental apartments are proposed within this development. The existing buildings were originally part of the Central Islip Psychiatric Hospital. The proposed adaptive re-use of the buildings for multifamily housing is in conformance with the 2005 Master Plan Update for the Central Islip Planned Development District. The project is located southeast corner of Sunburst Boulevard and Carleton Avenue in Central Islip, Town of Islip, New York.
