Steuben County - Steuben County, as lead agency, has determined that the proposed Water/Sewer Improvement Project - The Woodlands Community Inc will not have a significant adverse environmental impact. The action involves the development of plans by Steuben County for public water and sewer improvements to serve a manufactured housing development, known as The Woodlands Community Inc. Steuben County has received approval for Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) funding assistance from the New York State Office of Community Renewal to undertake the project. As currently proposed, the project involves the installation of approximately 4,700 linear feet of 6 and 8 inch water mains, fire hydrants, valves, watermain connections, residential hook-ups, road crossings, excavation and bedding materials and surface restoration. The project also includes the replacement of the existing private septic systems with a collection system and force main to connect to the City of Hornell's sewage collection and treatment system. The sewer improvements include construction of 4,700 linear feet of 8 inch sewer mains, manholes, sewer laterals, clean outs, a pump station and 1,750 linear feet of force main sewer. The purpose of the project is to address serious health and safety problems and ensure that residents of the housing development have a reliable supply of good quality water and fire protection and a properly functioning public sewer collection system. The water mains and sanitary sewers will be constructed along local roads within the Woodlands community. The project is located at 1190 County Route 66 in the Town of Hornellsville, New York.
