Negative Declaration

Suffolk County - The Town of Huntington Town Board, as lead agency, has determined that the proposed Various Changes to Zoning Code for Affordable Housing, Bars, and Parking will not have a significant adverse environmental impact. The action involves the deletion of the Town of Huntington's Affordable Housing Law from the Zoning Code in order to move the legislation to its own Chapter in the Town Code. The resolution fixes a change to tavern/bar uses that was erroneously made as part of legislation establishing a "bistro" use and revising other food service uses in the Zoning Code last year. Tavern/bar uses will continue to be permitted in any zoning districts where restaurants are permitted. The resolution also revises the parking regulations to require residential apartments in commercial zoning districts to have on-site or nearby parking and not allow applicants to apply for special use permits from the Zoning Board of Appeals for the use of municipal parking lots. The number of required parking spaces for residential apartments in the C-6 General Business District has been reduced from 1.5 spaces per unit to 1 space per unit. The project is located throughout the Town of Huntington, New York.

Notice of Acceptance of Draft SEIS and Public Hearing

Suffolk County - The Town Board of the Town of Babylon, as lead agency, has accepted a Draft Supplemental Environmental Impact Statement on the proposed Gustave J. Wade, Carole E. Wade, Gustave K. Wade Family 2012 Irrevocable Trust and Colonial. A public hearing on the Draft SEIS will be held on June 14, 2017 at 6:00 p.m. at the Town of Babylon Town Board Room, 200 East Sunrise Highway, North Lindenhurst, NY 11757. Written comments on the Draft SEIS will be accepted until June 26, 2017. The Draft SEIS is available from the Town of Babylon Department of Environmental Control, 281 Phelps Lane, Room #23, North Babylon, NY 11703 and on line at: townofbabylon.com.

The action involves a change of zone from A Residence to Multiple Residence (MR) and construction of 264 MR rental units and a 6,475 square foot community building all constructed on a 16.09 acre portion of the site. In addition, relief of certain covenants and restrictions imposed on the subject site proposed for development will be necessary. The preservation of the northerly portion of the site as farmland is no longer part of the proposal. The remaining 15.87 acres will be developed with 25 single family homes which were previously approved and exist on a filed map. A connection to the Wyandanch Sewer Infrastructure utilizing a pump station and force main is proposed for wastewater disposal. The proposal will also include the abandonment of the southerly portion of the existing subdivision map. The project is located on the northeast corner of Colonial Springs Road and North 28th Street in Wheatley Heights, Town of Babylon, New York.
