Project Description:

Applicant proposes the replacement of a concrete box culvert with a aluminized steel pipe carrying Highbridge Street over Snooks Pond Outlet, a class C (T) stream, and a tributary to Limestone Creek. Approximately 25 linear feet of rip rap will be placed at both the inlet and outlet to stabilize embankments and stream bed.

Coastal Management:

This project is not located in a Coastal Management area and is not subject to the Waterfront Revitalization and Coastal Resources Act.

Project Description:

The applicant proposes a stream and habitat improvement project, designed by the US Fish and Wildlife Service, within the Salmon River and NYS Class 1 Freshwater Wetland PI-1. Strategically placed large wood structures will be constructed out of trees and used to block three channel avulsions within an 800 foot stretch of the river. Two upstream channel blocks will concentrate the flow into the main channel of the river. A third, longer, downstream channel block will be installed adjacent to a sediment deposition, and a 178 foot long by 26 foot wide thalweg channel will be dredged into the river bed. The excavated material will be placed on the wood structures and will help to secure them to the river bed. This project is within two parcels, with the adjacent parcel being permitted under application ID 7-3550-00276/00001.
