Project Description:

The Village of Greenwood Lake proposes disturbance to New York State Freshwater Wetland GR-5, Class 2, within the northern portion of Greenwood Lake [WIN NJ-P 10226, Class B] for the construction and installation of a boat launch and dock for canoes, boats, kayaks and other non-motorized watercraft. A permeable ramp will be installed, leading down to a new bulkhead, rip rap and floating aluminum dock used for entry and exit. The proposed disturbance will include approximately 400 SF of wetland disturbance and approximately 1488 SF of disturbance to the 100 ft adjacent area. Approximately 76 SF (7.3 cy) of material will be removed and replaced with rip rap, and 48 SF of bulkheading will be constructed. This project is located off of Old Dutch Hollow Road, within the Village of Greenwood Lake.

The applicant proposes to treat Leonard Park Pond, within a portion of NYS regulated Freshwater Wetland K-46 (Class I) with the aquatic pesticide Cutrine Plus (active ingredient: elemental copper) to control algal blooms; and Clearcast (active ingredient: ammonium salt of imazamox) to control pondweed and milfoil. Applications will be made with a low pressure, high volume sprayer, and the total area of treatment is 1.88 acres. Prior to treatment, the lake will be drawn down to ensure that no chemicals are released downstream prior to degradation.

This proposal is consistent with the Programmatic Environmental Impact Statement on Aquatic Vegetation Control Program of the Department of Environmental Conservation and its Findings (1981 & 2009).
