Negative Declaration

Cayuga County - The New York State Department of Environmental Conservation (NYS DEC), as lead agency, has determined that the proposed Sennett Pit Renewal and Mining Below the Water Table will not have a significant adverse environmental impact. The action involves a proposal by the applicant to renew and mine below the water table at a currently permitted mine site and the reclamation plan will now include a 12.5 acre pond. The project site is the applicant's property located on US Route 20 approximately 900 feet east of the intersection of Pine Ridge Road in the Town of Sennett, New York. The mine is intended to operate as a traditional surface extraction of sand and gravel. Mining is proposed for below the local water table. Excavation will be done by mechanical equipment, standard for sand and gravel mining operations, and for removal of material below the local water table. Mining is proposed to remove approximately 700,000 tons of aggregate sand and gravel over the estimated 20 year operational life of the mine. Topsoil will be stockpiled for reclamation around the pond.

Tompkins County - The Town of Ulysses Planning Board, as lead agency, has determined that the proposed Ulysses 3 Community Solar Farm will not have a significant adverse environmental impact. The action involves a 2 MW solar project located on 10 acres of land planned to provide clean quiet renewable solar electricity to the community, with first preference given to serving local residents. The project will adhere to all setbacks including the right of way defined by the New York State Department of Transportation (NYS DOT) and trees will be planted to mitigate any glare. It would also generate no pollution or noise, and would not alter storm water management on site. The project is located at 1574 Trumansburg Road in the Town of Ulysses, New York.
