Project Description:

The Department has made a tentative determination to approve a modification application for an existing permit for a proposed discharge of up to 66,000 gallons per day of treated groundwater into the Bronx Kill (Class I). Modifications include relocation of Outfall 001 via a 12" storm sewer on Randall's Island, and addition of a second outfall via NYCDEP Outfall #WIB-068 Outfall 002 in the Bronx, both discharging treated groundwater from two filtration and carbon treatment systems. The applicant plans to install a new 20" sub-aqueous water main extension and new 12" sub-aqueous high pressure gas main from Brook Ave. and Buckner Blvd. in the Bronx to Randall's Island. A draft permit is available for inspection and comment at the regional office.
