Project Description:

The applicant proposes to construct 105 linear feet of new bulkhead to elevation 4.9 seaward of the tidal wetland boundary along a natural shoreline at the end of a public road. The new bulkhead is proposed to be backfilled with 50 cu. yds. of clean sand from an upland source. A new guardrail is proposed to be installed. The proposed project is located at the western end of Perkins Avenue along Amityville Creek, in the Village of Amityville in Suffolk County, between SCTM#'s 101-10-2-12 and 101-10-4-2.2.

Cultural resource lists and maps have been checked. The proposed activity is not in an area of identified archaeological sensitivity and no known registered, eligible or inventoried archaeological sites or historic structures were identified or documented for the project location. No further review in accordance with SHPA is required.

Coastal Management:

This project is located in a Coastal Management area and is subject to the Waterfront Revitalization and Coastal Resources Act.

Project Description:

The applicant is proposing to construct 67 linear feet of new low-sill bulkhead seaward of mean high water, with one 12-foot return and one 20-foot return, to restore an area of shoreline with significant erosion. Approximately 40 cubic yards of dredge spoil will be used to backfill the bulkhead and will be planted with Spartina alterniflora and Baccharis halimifolia (groundsel bush). The project is located at 2600 Old Orchard Rd., East Marion, NY in the town of Southold, Suffolk County. SCTM: 1000-37-5-23.2
