Negative Declaration

Monroe County - The City of Rochester Director of Planning and Zoning, as lead agency, has determined that the proposed Rochester Museum and Science Center Gateway Building will not have a significant adverse environmental impact. The action involves a project to link the Rochester Museum's Wilson Hall to the Strasenburgh Planetarium with a single-story, 4,000 ± square foot building that would serve as the main entry, lobby and ticket desk for both buildings. Set back from East Avenue about 260 foot, the building would be reached through a new pedestrian plaza with five fountains and extensive landscaping. From the parking lot on the south side, the building would be accessed through a new, smaller plaza. The new building and plazas would replace a driveway, parking lot and drop off circle. The museum campus is within the East Avenue Historic District, listed in the National Register of Historic Places. The project is located at 657 East Avenue in the City of Rochester, New York.
