Public Meeting and Public Comment Period

Draft Northern Chenango Unit Management Plan

The public is invited to attend a public meeting and comment on the Draft Unit Management Plan (UMP) which will guide management of the Northern Chenango Unit for the next 10 years. The New York State Department of Environmental Conservation (NYS DEC) will consider all public comments as it finalizes the management plan for the Unit. The UMP covers 15,785 acres on seven state properties; Beaver Meadow State Forest, Otselic State Forest, Buck's Brook State Forest and Lincklaen State Forest in the Towns of Smyrna, Otselic, Lincklaen and Pitcher in Chenango County, New York and Earlville State Forest, Lebanon State Forest and Texas Hill State Forest in the Towns of Lebanon and Georgetown in Madison County, New York.

The public meeting will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, March 2nd, 2017 at Rogers Environmental Education Center, 2721 State Highway 80, Sherburne, New York. Those unable to attend the meeting may submit comments by mail to: NYS DEC - Region 7 Sherburne Sub Office, Division of Lands and Forests, 2715 Route 80, Sherburne, NY 13460 or by e-mail to: andrew.blum@dec.ny.gov. Comments on the plan will be accepted until May 2, 2017.

Negative Declaration

Madison County - The Town of Cazenovia Zoning Board of Appeals, as lead agency, has determined that the proposed Timothy Hughes (Owner/Applicant) Project will not have a significant adverse environmental impact. The action involves the construction and placement of a secondary accessory structure, a 48 foot by 36 foot, three (3) car garage with an 8 foot carport at the rear of the structure. The project is located in the front yard of 4577 Syracuse Road in the Rural A (RA) and Lake Watershed & Riparian Corridor (LW&RC) Districts of the Town of Cazenovia, New York.

Tompkins County - The Dryden Central School District, as lead agency, has determined that the proposed Capital Project will not have a significant adverse environmental impact. The action involves a proposal by the Dryden Central School District to undertake a capital project which will include various renovations, improvements, and site work improvements at the District's four sites and facilities, consisting of: (1) Dryden Elementary School, (2) Cassavant Elementary School, (3) Freeville Elementary School, (4) Dryden Middle School/ High School, and associated Dryden Bus Garage. The project is located at various locations of the Dryden Central School District in Dryden, New York.
