ENB - Region 7 Notices 12/21/2016

Negative Declaration

Broome County - The New York State Department of Environmental Conservation (NYS DEC), as lead agency, has determined that the proposed Haywell Quarry will not have a significant adverse environmental impact. The action involves a proposal by the applicant for a new 20 acre life-of-mine bluestone quarry on a 200 acre parcel owned by Haywell Farms, Inc. Exploratory mining has previously occurred on site, the existing haul road will be used. No streams, wetlands or other protected natural resources are expected to be adversely impacted. All stormwater runoff will drain internally. Typical blasting and processing of bluestone will occur which is consistent with numerous other bluestone mines in the area. The mine will be reclaimed to stable slopes with natural vegetation similar to existing conditions. The project is located at 921 Big Hollow Road in the Town of Sanford, New York.

Tompkins County - The Town of Ulysses Town Board, as lead agency, has determined that the proposed Disinfection By-Product Removal Project - Water District #3 will not have a significant adverse environmental impact. The action involves the incorporation of a Total Trihalomethanes (TTHM) Removal System in the existing ground storage tank located at the intersection of Van Dorn Corners Road and Iradell Road in combination with a dedicated inlet/outlet. Incorporating a dedicated inlet/outlet to the ground storage tank will ensure that water moving through the system to the terminus (Cold Springs Road) will enter and be treated by this TTHM removal system - further reducing TTHM within Water District # 3. No new water district extension is proposed as part of this project. The project is located at Van Dorn Corners Road and Iradell Road in the Town of Ulysses, New York.
