Project is Located:

Cuba, Allegany County

Project Description:

The Cuba Lake District proposes to dredge three 35 foot wide channels on the northern end of Cuba Lake. Accumulated sediment removal will improve navigability in this section of the lake and improve swimming conditions along the northern shoreline for local area cottage owners. An average of 2' of sediment will be removed from these areas for a total of 5,314 cubic yards of material. The main channel will begin at the southern end of the Rawson Creek inlet and run 1,200 feet southeast towards the main waters of the lake. A second channel will start at the public boat launch site and run 350 feet to the northeast where it will intercept the main boat channel. A third channel will start at the inlet of New Mexico Creek and run 500 feet west along the northern shoreline, where it will intercept the main boat channel. Dredged material disposal is proposed to be on District land located between County Road 7D and the public boat launch. The material will be allowed to air dry and then graded off and seeded with a conservation grass seed mix.
