Negative Declaration

Greene County - The Town of Prattsville, as lead agency, has determined that the proposed Prattsville Water District- Water System Improvements Project will not have a significant adverse environmental impact. The action involves the treatment or replacement of Prattsville Well (PW)-2 to eliminate or reduce Bromomethane to acceptable levels and providing at least one additional well to supplement PW-2. Bromomethane treatment could entail carbon filtration or aeration at the existing well site. New wells could be developed at either the existing site (Tank Site) or a new site in the valley floor (WWTP Site). The new well(s) may require treatment for Bromomethane (at the Tank Site) or manganese and sulfur (at the WWTP Site). If treatment at the tank site results in a backwash waste stream, a sanitary sewer extension will be needed. The new wells will require a new control and treatment building at either of the locations. The building will contain the required treatment systems, chemical storage, instrumentation and controls, and a maintenance area. An outdoor emergency generator will be provided to run the system during utility power outages. The project will also include minor distribution improvements such as water main looping, valve replacements, hydrant replacements, valve box replacements, curb box replacements, and service meter replacements. The project will also include decommissioning of PW-1 (the Creamery Lane Well) which is of very poor quality and was severely damaged in the 2011 flood. The project is in various locations of the Town of Prattsville, New York.
