Public Notice

The New York State Department of Environmental Conservation (NYS DEC) has received a Brownfield Cleanup Program (BCP) application from Pierce Arrow LLC for a site known as Pierce Arrow, site ID #C915308. This site is located in the City of Buffalo, within the County of Erie, and is located at 1695, 1721 and 1723 Elmwood Avenue. Comments regarding this application must be submitted no later than December 9, 2016. Negative Declaration

Erie County - The Cleveland Hill Union Free School District, as lead agency, has determined that the proposed Capital Improvements Project, 2016 will not have a significant adverse environmental impact. The action involves a Capital Improvements Project, 2016 which includes various renovation, upgrade, and site work improvements at the Cleveland Hill Union Free School District's sites and facilities.

Proposed interior work in the school buildings includes renovation of the library and improvements to walls, ceilings, and stage rigging. Upgrades to building systems include multiple HVAC items such as new rooftop air handling units, replacing rooftop air cooling condensing units with interior units, pool dehumidification system, hood vents for gas ranges and replacing other intake / relief hoods, and a new duplex condensate receiver pump set. Other building system upgrade items include fire alarm notification devices in classrooms, cafeteria sound system, and energy-efficient lighting in stairwells, Elementary and Primary School gymnasiums, and loading dock. Proposed exterior envelope upgrades include a new roof, improvements to exterior walls around windows to prevent leaks, and concrete steps.

Proposed site work includes athletic facility and pavement improvements. Athletic facility items include reconstruction of the football field including replacing grass turf with synthetic turf and associated underdrainage, reconstruction of the track, reconstruction of a softball field and fencing in a relocated layout, drainage improvements at the baseball and softball fields, and a new concessions / restrooms building. Proposed pavement items include upgrades off of Bigelow Road to provide for an extended off-street drop-off area for large buses, a separate parent drop-off loop, and a drop-off loop for small buses to improve traffic flow conditions. Other improvements include parking spaces along the parent drop-off loop and reconstruction of pavement with drainage improvements next to the District offices to prevent water seepage into the building.

At the Family Resource Center, proposed work includes a new roof, HVAC, electrical, lighting and fire alarm upgrades, and railings for access ramps. Upgrades including HVAC, windows, and emergency exit lighting are proposed at the Maintenance Building. Other items that could be included as alternates at the campus include renovations to the kitchen and weight room, electrical service to field storage building, and masonry repointing.

The project is located at the Cleveland Hill High School, Middle School, Elementary School, and Maintenance Building,105 Mapleview Road in Cheektowaga, New York, and the Family Resource Center, 3660 Harlem Road in Cheektowaga, New York.
