Negative Declaration

Lewis County - The New York State Department of Environmental Conservation (NYS DEC), as lead agency, has determined that the proposed Adoption of the Amendment to the 2013 East Branch of Fish Creek Tract Conservation Easement Recreation Management Plan (RMP) will not have a significant adverse environmental impact. The action involves the construction of a 20 mile foot/ski trail to provide additional public recreational access to the property. The trail will traverse the East Branch of Fish Creek Easement Properties, Detached Forest Preserve Lots and East Branch of Fish Creek State Forest lands. The trail will eventually traverse the Unit from the Osceola Road parking area north to the Mad River Headwaters Compartment. Trail construction may require removal of approximately 15 to 20 trees, brushing and pruning work and construction of six small footbridges. The project is located in the Towns of Lewis, Montague, Osceola and West Turin, New York.
