Project Description:

The applicant proposes to reconstruct an existing bulkhead in place and eliminate an existing boat slip by constructing new bulkheading across the face of the boat slip and placement of clean fill landward of the new bulkhead as backfill. Placement of fill material within the boat slip area will result in the loss of approximately 630 square feet of tidal wetlands known as littoral zone (LZ). The applicant also proposes to install a parallel capping boardwalk and plant and maintain beach grass on the filled area. The project is located at 155 Bayview Walk, Cherry Grove, Town of Brookhaven, Suffolk County, SCTM# 0200-986.2-3-28.

Project Description:

The applicant proposes to excavate/dredge a 40 foot by 170 foot area 1-3 feet below grade directly in regulated tidal wetlands to remove Phragmites and their rhizome root system. There are regulated freshwater wetlands within 100 feet of the proposed dredge area. No re-planting of vegetation is proposed. The project site is located within Georgica Cove in Georgica Pond south of Cove Hollow Road, Town of East Hampton, Suffolk County.

The Department has made a tentative determination to approve this application for a new permit for an existing discharge of 14,500 gallons per day of treated laundry wastewater to groundwater from a primary treatment plant at the applicant's facility located at 1052 Islip Avenue, Brentwood, NY. The proposed discharge is located within an area designated as a sole source acquifer. The following water purveyors have been identified as having service areas located within a 3-mile radius of the applicant's facility: Suffolk County Water Authority, Brentwood Water District.

Project Description:

The applicant proposes to remove the existing structures at the referenced site, including a former hospital, demolition debris, paving remnants and an inactive sewage treatment plant, and to redevelop the property with 69 residential townhouse units and associated amenities, including a recreation building, swimming pool, guard booth, roadways and parking areas. A new sewage treatment plant is also proposed as well as drywells and a drainage reserve area on the northwestern portion of the property. The drainage reserve area and remaining portions of the freshwater wetland adjacent area are proposed to be planted with native vegetation. The proposed project is located within 100' of NYSDEC regulated freshwater wetlands at 498 Smithtown Bypass in the Town of Smithtown in Suffolk County, SCTM# 800-157-2-13, 46.1, 46.2, 47, 51, 53 & 58.
