Project Description:

The permittee proposes to expand the existing 2.49 acre sand and gravel mine to 5.0 acres, continuing westward using the existing mining methods. Previously completed Stage I Archeological Survey determines no cultural resources were found in the project area. No impacts to streams or wetlands are expected, all stormwater runoff to drain internally with no off-site discharge. Reclamation of the mine will be to stable, vegetated slopes.

State Historic Preservation Act (SHPA) Determination:

A cultural resources survey has been completed. The report of the survey is on file. No archaeological sites or historic structures were identified at the project location. No further review in accordance with SHPA is required.

Coastal Management:

This project is not located in a Coastal Management area and is not subject to the Waterfront Revitalization and Coastal Resources Act.

DEC Commissioner Policy 29, Environmental Justice and Permitting (CP-29)

It has been determined that the proposed action is not subject to CP-29.

Project Description:

The applicant proposes to construct a 4 foot wide by 80 foot long board walk through the regulated area, and adjacent area, to class 1 NYS Freshwater Wetland OW-2. The board walk will be constructed on 6" x 6" pressure treated posts which will be augured 3 feet into the ground, and backfilled with washed gravel. Erosion and sediment controls will be required along the entire length of the project within the regulated boundaries of the wetland. Project plans are available for review at the Region 7 Syracuse NYSDEC office.
