Project Description:

SCDHS has made a tentative determination to issue a SPDES permit for the discharge of 15,000 gallons per day of treated sanitary waste to the groundwater located at St. Johnland Road, Smithtown, New York. The proposed discharge is located with an area designated as a sole source aquifer. The following public water purveyors have been identified as having service areas located within a three mile radius of the applicant's facility: 1) Suffolk County Water Authority. SPDES NY-0286834

Negative Declaration

Nassau County - The Incorporated Village of Old Westbury Board of Trustees, as lead agency, has determined that the proposed Local Law No. 6 of 2016, Amending Chapter 216, "Zoning" will not have a significant adverse environmental impact. The action involves an amendment to the Village Zoning Code with regard to minimum yard setbacks, lot coverage, and building volume in Residence B, BB and B-4 zoning districts. The proposed Zoning Code revisions are intended to provide greater clarity for applicants and a more efficient application review process. The proposed Code provisions will eliminate the use of building volume in determinations of minimum yard setbacks, thereby providing a more straightforward and easily understood standard. Additionally, the current dimensional requirements which have been identified for revision are responsible for a large fraction of the variance applications received by the Village, particularly for irregularly-shaped lots and expansion of existing homes. For the most part, the Board of Trustees considers the development proposed in such applications to be appropriate and consistent with its land use goals, and the Board of Zoning Appeals (BZA) routinely approves such applications, circumstances which indicate that the existing dimensional standards are overly and unnecessarily restrictive. The proposed revisions will eliminate a superfluous step in the review process for many applications, and allow the BZA to focus its resources on applications which more appropriately merit its scrutiny. The project is located throughout the Incorporated Village of Old Westbury, New York.
